You purchase a license for ECLASS 11.0 in all available languages and all export formats: BASIC (csv and XML) and ADVANCED (XML). ECLASS 11.0 has been published on 2019-07-29.

IMPORTANT: In addition to the content-related development of ECLASS, the following improvements / extensions have also been made to the different export formats:

  • BASIC csv:
    • Extension of the "Class-Property-relation" file by the column "PreferredNameBlock". If a property in ECLASS ADVANCED is assigned to a block and this property is also considered for ECLASS BASIC, the corresponding name of the block is listed in this column.
  • XML:
The previous XML Schema 2.0 was adapted and replaced by the new XML Schema 3.0:
    • UnitsML
Until now, no speaking name for units existed. Analogous to all other ECLASS structural elements, the preferred name for units was introduced and filled initially. The former XML Schema was adapted accordingly.
    • IRDIs of KW/SY
So far not part of the XML, the IRDIs of Keywords and Synonyms are now content of the ECLASS XML.
    • Deprecation information
Until now, the information about deprecated structure elements are consolidated in a separate area at the end of the XML. Beginning with ECLASS Release 11.0 this information is now embedded into its respective context.

Here you can find detailled information:

Most of the language versions are partly translated; the rest filled with the English original.

The ECLASS Major Release 11.0 is an enhancement and modification of ECLASS Minor Release 10.1. With Release 7.0 an improved structure according to the underlying ISO13584 data model and an ISO-standard XML format (OntoML) was introduced.

Starting with ECLASS Release 7.0, there are two different versions of ECLASS which contain the same classes, but differ in the product description on the basis of properties and values:

  • BASIC (in .csv or .XML format). The BASIC version contains only the content that could be represented in a .csv format that was the exclusively used export format before 7.0. Therefore, it does not contain property block structures nor dynamic elements as in the ADVANCED version. BASIC does contain all classes of the ADVANCED, but the product description with the help of properties and values is structured a lot easier. BASIC is therefore a subset of ADVANCED.
  • ADVANCED (only in .XML format). The ADVANCED version is the leading version in the database and built on the basis of the data model ISO13584. It contains all structural elements of the ECLASS classification system including property blocks, dynamic elements such as reference properties, polymorphism and cardinality blocks. The description of these extended structural components as well as additional meaningful information can be found here:
Each classification class refers to both an ADVANCED and a BASIC application class that contains the product description with the help of properties and values. The ADVANCED version contains the complete content of ECLASS and is therefore an extension of the BASIC version.
Under you may find an overview (matrix of functionalities) which makes it possible for you to compare the two versions (BASIC and ADVANCED) and their possibilities. A reference table between the BASIC and ADVANCED versions enables users of the BASIC version to exchange technical data with users of the ADVANCED version, whereby the necessary know-how has to be delivered by the user of the ADVANCED version.

ECLASS 11.0 comprises in comparison to Release 10.1:

  • 1 new segment
    • Segment 51: Fluidpower
  • ca. 5,800 new classes
  • ca. 1,000 new properties
  • ca. 330 new property blocks
  • ca. 8,100 new values
  • ca. 2,200 new keywords
  • ca. 23,300 new class-property-relations

All available downloads at the ECLASS DownloadPortal generally contain a complete ECLASS version in csv format or XML format (for initial implementation). For information on the data structure, please refer to the enclosed README file.

These changes of the content are based on the following measures:

  • Clearing up of property duplicates in ECLASS ADVANCED (>36,000 duplicates)
  • Revision of the 9x classes (Deletion of incorrect 9x classes on the 3rd level, correct structuring of the 90, 91 and 92 classes on the 4th level in all segments)
  • Introduction of biocide-labels
  • Ongoing content harmonization with the standards ETIM and APPLiA PI
  • Introduction of the new segment 51 "Fluidpower". The contents of the previous main groups 27-29 "Pneumatics" and 27-30 "Hydraulics" have been merged and restructured within this segment.
  • Substantial restructuring of the segments:
    • 23 "Machine element, fixing, mounting"
    • 35 "Semifinished product, material" (including introduction of property blocks)
    • 47 "Body care and personal hygiene"
  • Ongoing content development, especially in the following segments:
    • 16 "Food, beverage, tobacco"
    • 24 "Office product, facility and technic, papeterie"
    • 27 "Electric engineering, automation, process control engineering"
    • 34 "Medical Device"
    • 45 "Human and veterinary drug, pesticide as well as active ingredient"

 Content ECLASS 11.0 BASIC (csv):

  • Classes file (complete)
  • Properties file (complete)
  • Keywords and Synonyms file
  • Values file (complete)
  • Unit file (complete)
  • Class-Property relations file (if existing, the name of the related block is now contained)
  • Value lists (restricted Property-Value relations file, only BOOLEAN properties)
  • Proposal lists (suggested Class-Property-Value relations file incl. constraints)
  • README file ECLASS standard

  • 40 XML files: for each segment (including SG 90) one XML file that contains the complete content of the relevant segment (Classes, Keywords, Properties, Synonyms, Values, Value Lists, Units and all relations) (complete)
  • Templates: In this release, the "Templates" folder already known from previous releases does not contain any content. The reason for this is the future handling with templates to deliver and publish only "default" templates with substantial content. This may change for future releases.
Templates contain a Data Requirement Statement for the data exchange, in which can be defined e.g. sequences or optional and mandatory fields between the data transmitter and the receiver. More information in the ECLASS Wiki:
  • ECLASS units ("UnitsML" in XML format)
  • Only ADVANCED: Additionally for the ADVANCED user the mapping file BASIC - ADVANCED is included
  • README file
